FAQs

Why consider therapy?

Therapy is an opportunity for psychological healing and personal growth. The therapeutic relationship is designed to help you become aware of the embedded beliefs, hopes, and fears that motivate your behavior and form the lens through which you perceive the world. We all have blind spots when it comes to our perceptions, reactions, and interpersonal dynamics. This is often the root of stress, anxiety, and sadness. While extremely beneficial during difficult times and crises, therapy is a tool for wellbeing and actualizing your fullest potential.Therapy can help you more skillfully manage the ups and downs of daily life, enhance your physical health, increase your self-esteem, and provide greater clarity about your purpose and direction in life.

Are sessions confidential?

The information you share in therapy is confidential and will not be disclosed without your written permission. The rare circumstances in which I am legally obligated to disclose information is if you are in imminent danger of harming yourself or someone else, or in the case of current child/elder abuse. If such rare situations occur, I will make every effort to fully discuss it with you before taking action.

Do you accept insurance?

While I do not take insurance as a direct form of payment, it is possible for your session to be covered by your personal insurance, partly or in full, under your “out-of-network” benefits. If you would like to use your insurance for counseling sessions, I can provide you with a Statement for Reimbursement form (also called a Superbill) for you to submit directly to your insurance company for partial or full reimbursement. Please keep in mind that in order to use your insurance, I will have to give you a mental health diagnosis that will become part of your permanent medical record.

Some insurance companies do not provide coverage for counseling, so be sure to contact your insurance provider to ask if you have “out-of-network” coverage for counseling sessions.

Do you offer sliding scale?

I offer sliding scale on a case by case basis and do my best to make therapy accessible. I am happy to discuss this option for those without out-of-network benefits or insurance coverage. Proof of income will be required to qualify.

What kind of commitment do I need to make?

This depends on your unique circumstances. I typically see clients on a weekly basis. However, there are instances in which I may work with someone more or less frequently. The duration of our work together depends on your goals and what you would like to accomplish. The simplest answer is that it ends when you feel that you have completed the work you came to therapy to do.

How long is a therapy session?

A standard talk therapy session is 45 - 50 minutes, and standard Reiki and yoga sessions are 75 minutes.

What is your cancellation Policy?

I understand that sometimes life gets in the way and you may need to cancel or reschedule an appointment from time to time. However, I require 48-hour notice if you intend to cancel or move your appointment to another day to avoid being charged.
